The organisers of the Esports Championship Series have revealed the eight teams that have been invited to compete in its Development League.
With ECS Season 2 due to start only in October, the league's organisers will be hosting in September a qualifying tournament to give teams the chance to earn spots in the $1.75 million competition.
The ECS Development League will consist of two divisions, each one with eight teams - four invites and four determined by open online qualifiers.
SK will need to requalify for ECS
In North America, the top two teams from the Development League division will take on the bottom two teams of Season 1 in promotion matches to determine the final teams entering ECS Season 2.
In Europe, the first-placed team of the qualifiers will move directly into ECS due to the region having an additional spot up for grabs following Na`Vi's withdrawal, which means that it will be the runner-up and the third-placed side going to the promotion stage against the bottom teams from the inaugural season.
